A Little History of Baton Rouge, La and LSU

Lets start with Baton Rouge, which is the capital of Louisiana. It's the second largest city in the state and sits next to the Mississippi River. The word Baton Rouge is French for " RED STICK " which is a strange name for a city. In 1699 a French explore by the name D'Iberville led a party up the Mississippi River. When they came upon a cypress pole on the bluff above the river, it was covered in bloody fish heads and bloody animal heads. It marked the boundary between the the Native American tribes and the hunting grounds of Houma. Thus becoming the symbol for Baton Rouge. It's a wonderful city to visit and if you have a chance I highly recommend it.

Louisiana Sate University...aka...LSUwas established in 1859 and has a student body of over 32,000. The University has 20 varsity sports teams that compete in the South Eastern Conference. It's mascot name is Mike The Tiger, there has been 6 tigers to hold the name "MIKE" dating back to 1936. The name Mike came from the late Athlectic Director Chellis Mike Chambers.

My LSU Room

I have just finished my LSU room and here's a picture of my LSU Fathead that my oldest girl got me for Christmas. It goes perfect with my South Eastern Conference posters (SEC) and my LSU Wincraft wall clocks. The Team Effort (LSU) golf bag is wonderful, the purple and gold curtins are great. We took and hung all my LSU Colosseum hats around the tops of my walls. Now that all is left to do is go to Lowe's and get the team color paint and paint the walls.... thats all for now.... :)

My name is James

Hello world my is James. I'm single still looking after 4 step kids but I think I have converted them into Tiger fans. They say I'm addicted to LSU football but the the truth is I'm addicted to all LSU sports. I have been to a few Tiger games as well as a few Saints games and I have found that there is nothing better in life than a Saturday night in Tiger Stadium. The tailgating is out of this world....
